State's Oldest Geocaches (updated 11-24-2014)

Postby BackpacknJack » Mon Nov 09, 2009 4:29 pm

Here is a list of the State’s oldest still active geocaches:
> STATE'S OLDEST GEOCACHES (updated 11-24-2014) <
PS. Although caches are archived and/or resurrected almost every day, this bookmark is current as of 11-24-2014 so hopefully it will be of help to those interested in the older caches. If you find any errors or omissions, just give me a shout.
This list now includes the new oldest in Wyoming since Jackson Holes First was archived.

Just updated this one to make it relevant for the year 2011. I hope you get the chance to go and find some of these old timers while they are still around and remember that when they were placed there were no guidelines for the difficulty and terrain ratings so take those with a grain of salt so to speak. I have made notes on some of the ones I know are way off from the present ratings guidelines and have asked some of the owners/caretakers if they plan on redoing some of them.

Just an update on Florida's oldest, "Christmas Cache" [GCFA]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"February 16 by anidanid (761 found)

Park Alerts for Collier-Seminole State Park

The 3 ½ mile biking/hiking trail will be closed indefinitely due to an eagles nest that is too close to the trail. Until such time as the eagle chicks have left the nest, the trail will remain closed to all traffic."

The Park has now opened a new trail to this cache area so it is accessible year round now.
